This is one of the illustrations from my personal collection where I explore themes that resonate with me. For this project, I wanted to explore the theme of rest through a subject that’s often associated with constant motion: the bee.
Bees are widely seen as symbols of hard work, diligence, and productivity across many cultures. They’re always buzzing around; building, collecting, and doing their part for the hive. But in this illustration, I wanted to capture a rare moment of rest: a bee taking a break.
Even though bees do sleep, just like us, they’re almost always portrayed as constantly working. This piece is a gentle reminder that even the busiest, most dedicated workers need time to pause and recharge.
Because rest isn’t quitting or a sign of weakness, it’s part of what keeps us going.
